CORNHOLE with Shane Claiborne

Spiritus week 2 wrapped up this past Monday and there was some pretty amazing God moments.  Shane Claiborne was the main speaker and he challenged everyone, youth & adults alike to live out the words of Jesus as if He really meant them.  We were so honored to be apart of this conference and work with Shane.  If you haven’t read his 2 books, “Irresistible Revolution” & “Jesus for President”, then you need to go by the book store and get them!  For me one of the most powerful moments of worship was singing “With Everything”, a new song we debuted.  The spiritus crowed def came to worship God. The 800 students sounded more like 3,000!!  Now the challenge for the students, staff, and us is to live like we sing!  After Saturday nights session we got to hang out with Shane around a table and just talk.  I asked him what he thought of Micheal Vick coming to his town.  When he told me that he didn’t know who Micheal Vick was we all were surprised, but he was being serious!  So I told him if he was going to live in Philadelphia he needed to know about Vick.  So we gave him the rundown on Vick and coached him up in case anyone was to ask him about Vick when he returns home. (That was a really funny conversation but you probably had to be there).  After we talked for a bit, Shane said he wanted to play cornhole (a popular game where you throw little bean bags into a hole).  So He and I were partners and we lost to Jay and Nick. Overall the weekend was great! Thank you Spiritus Staff for allowing us to be apart of your lives!  This is definitely one of our favorite events!

A God Thing!

This past weekend in Fort Caswell, NC we started to record our new live album set to be released Oct 1st.  Going into the weekend we had no idea what God had in store for us and the new CD.  The speaker for the conference was Amena Brown, a spoken word artist from ATL.  After I heard her speak at the first session I told my brother Brad that we should collaborate with her and make her a guest on the CD.   I thought it would be so cool to have “spoken word” in the middle of one of our songs.  To be honest,  I didn’t have the courage to go up and ask her so we kept quiet until she approached us first thing Saturday morning.  She told us that she felt like God wanted “Hudson” & “Amena” to collaborate for Saturday’s night session.  At that moment we knew that this was a God thing.  So we wrote out what we wanted the night to look like and didn’t even get to rehearse but we didn’t even care because we knew this was straight from God!  The night was amazing and all the glory goes to our Father because it was His idea to begin with!  I feel privileged to be apart of such a powerful moment in so many peoples lives including mine.  When the new CD comes out OCT 1st you will understand what I am talking about.  So if you were not there I guess you will have to wait!
